Fair Housing for Maintenance @ The Washington Inn
Jun 26 @ 9:30 am – 12:00 pm

Make sure everyone on your team receives up-to-the-minute Fair Housing training!

This program offers TWO sessions. You may register yourself, and your staff, for the appropriate AM and/or PM session.

AM Session – For Maintenance Staff
This two-hour session will help Maintenance staff understand their important role in providing Fair Housing. Residents deal with the office at the beginning of the tenancy, but after moving on site, maintenance usually has more exposure to residents and their problems on an on-going basis. 80% of Fair Housing cases come from in-place residents! Cases are often filed based on poor service, but may also be based on inconsistent service (including being too nice and showing a preference for some residents), lack of communication, or saying the wrong thing… however innocent your intentions may be! What you don’t know can cost YOU, as well as your property and your company, BIG money.

PM Session – For Managers & Admin Staff
Fair Housing is the most complex, serious, and costly issue for the rental industry today. Every person on your staff has personal liability in a complaint — as well as subjecting his or her supervisors, management company and owner to serious penalties. We will help you recognize your basic day-to-day fair housing responsibilities and show you how to respond appropriately to the many situations you may face on your property.

About the Speaker: Shawn Bankson is a partner in the Northern California office of Kimball, Tirey & St. Johnn LLP. His legal practice specializes in fair housing matters. Additionally, he is a frequent trainer for many associations and management companies throughout the state of California in the areas of fair housing and landlord/tenant law.
