Comment Deadline Extended for Chapter 9 Section 8 Renewal Policy Guidebook to June 6, 2022

In order to facilitate robust stakeholder input, HUD is extending the deadline for written feedback on proposed changes to Chapter 9 of the Section 8 Renewal Policy Guidebook until midnight Eastern Time on June 6, 2022.

A revised draft of Chapter 9 of the Section 8 Renewal Policy Guidebook, Rent Comparability Studies, was posted to the Multifamily Policy Drafting Table on April 21, 2022. We appreciate feedback on this document as we work to ensure that HAP contract rents accurately reflect market rental values. The draft chapter, along with a redline version and a worksheet to record feedback, can be found here. All feedback should be e-mailed to .

In order to ensure that stakeholders have an opportunity to express feedback regarding this draft guidance, we have scheduled a live listening session for Friday, May 20, 2022 from 12:00 – 1:30 PM EDT. We welcome any party who would like to share thoughts on the chapter to attend this session. Three-minute speaking slots will be available, with a limit of one speaking slot per participating organization. To receive an invitation to the listening session and to request a speaking slot or reasonable accommodations to facilitate participation in the session, please pre-register for the event using the following link: https://www.zoomgov.com/meeting/register/vJIscOmrrT4vG_PtngCK7v2TbMdK38oBkdw. Registration for this event will close at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 18. Please note that speaking slots will be provided in the order that they are requested during pre-registration. All registrants are invited to submit written feedback if they are not provided a speaking slot for this session.

Thank you for working alongside HUD to ensure that our rent-setting policies reflect accurate valuations of our affordable housing stock. I look forward to hearing your thoughts at the listening session.

Sincerely,

Toby Halliday
