SPOT REPORT: California- Power Outage-Public Safety Power Shutoff– Update 1

REPORT DATE/TIME: Monday, September 07, 2020, 1935 PDT

LOCATION: 22 counties throughout Northern California.

DESCRIPTION/BLUF:

  • A PSPS is being initiated throughout Northern California which will potentially affect 171,842 customers.
    • The decision has been made to go forward with de-energization.
    • The window for de-energization is from 0000 PDT tomorrow until 0900 PDT Wednesday.
  • Over 10,279 medical baseline customers are potentially impacted.
  • The PSPS will potentially occur in the following counties:
    • Alpine
    • Amador
    • Butte
    • Calaveras
    • El Dorado
    • Humboldt
    • Kern
    • Lake
    • Mariposa
    • Napa
    • Nevada
    • Placer
    • Plumas
    • Shasta
    • Sierra
    • Siskiyou
    • Sonoma
    • Tehama
    • Trinity
    • Tulare
    • Tuolumne
    • Yuba
  • The following Tribal communities may be affected:
    • Enterprise Rancheria of Maidu Indians
    • Hoopa Valley Tribe
    • Karuk Tribe
    • Mooretown Rancheria
    • Tuolumne Rancheria
    • Yurok Tribe

STATE/LOCAL RESPONSE:  The California EOC is at Full Activation for COVID-19 response.  There are no unmet needs due to this event.  There have been no requests for FEMA assistance.

FEDERAL RESPONSE:  The FEMA Region IX RWC is at Normal Operations.  The RWC will continue to monitor this event and will provide updates as needed.
